Our Supportive Services
Our voluntary Health & Wellness program focuses on
educating the residents on the importance of living
a healthy lifestyle as well as providing them with
the necessary skills and opportunities to do so.
This includes meeting with our AmeriCorps volunteer,
who focuses on teaching healthy living, through how
to shop for and prepare healthy meals, and do group
or individual exercise. The goal is that after
participating in this program the residents will be
incorporating more fruits and vegetables into their
diets in addition to increasing their daily or
weekly physical activity level.
Our Career Club focuses on strengthening the
abilities of residents to find employment, searching
out meaningful careers, and providing guidance on
attending college or vocational training. Residents
create and/or enhance their resumes to prepare them
for the job force, are provided with professional
clothing for interviewing, go through mock
interviews, and are given interest inventories to
assess in which fields they may enjoy working. This
program also allows residents to job shadow a person
in a field they find interesting.
Our tutoring program is required for residents who
are still in high school and are receiving grades
below a ãCä average. However, tutoring is available
to all residents as well as youth on our waitlist
and other at÷risk teens. Tutors are volunteers,
often from Indiana University.
